Rembrandt Trio & Hossein Alizadeh
Meet Rembrandt: a composer with performance at the heart of his music
A vibrant personality and bridge-builder within Dutch contemporary music, he is regularly asked to compose for exciting new collaborations of classical musicians, ensembles and orchestras.
His openness, project expertise, and passion for innovation continually expand his compositional body of work.
One of his specialities is composing concerto’s for soloist(s) with orchestra: his oeuvre consists of more than 12 soloconcerto’s.
Rembrandt’s music is known for the joy musicians experience performing it. Highly regarded is his incorporation of improvisation into his scores, as well as his passion for historical instruments.

Envisioning the music
Rembrandt has written works in a variety of different genres, ranging from full orchestral to chamber music, film music, theatre plays and solo works.
His music is often praised for its appealing rhythmic identity, it’s lyrical melodies and his sensitivity for character of sound.
His orchestral work has been performed by the Residentie Orkest, Nederlands Kamerorkest, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Holland Baroque and musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra among many others.
His music caused a spark by several colleague musicians that have either commissioned him to write for them, or have premiered his work, including international soloists like Liza Ferschtman, Kian Soltani, Calefax, Remy van Kesteren, Daniel Rowland, New European Ensemble, Dominic Seldis, Black Pencil.

The composer on stage
Often ensembles find it interesting to invite Rembrandt on stage himself at the piano as the the composing performer.
For example, Rembrandt’s first two piano concertos were commissioned by musicians of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and have appeared on album, performed by the Alma Quartet and Dominic Seldis. This concert program is continuously touring, to this day. (watch it here)
Rembrandt’s Pianoconcerto No. 3 was commissioned and premiered by the Residentie Orkest, with the composer at the piano, led from the violin by Wouter Vossen. (see it here)
In 2026 the Orchestra of the Eighteenth century will premiere his Pianoconcerto No. 4, also with the composer at the piano.
Rembrandt has produced eighteen albums as artistic leader. Much of his music has been recorded.
Providing a good start, his debut album was immediately nominated for the Edison audience award. later also in 2007,2014 and 2022 his albums were nominated for the Edison audience award.
